2025/26 Educator Sign-Up:
We have two unique partnerships with organizations that bring a STEM experience to your school, including hands-on STEM activities. This activity is focused on students in grades 4-6, but it can be offered to students in grades 2 to 8. The 2025/26 school year dates will be announced in the Fall.
**SEWRPC Activities: The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC) is proud to partner with the schools in the Southeastern Wisconsin counties to bring two interactive learning experiences that highlight the role of planning and innovation in our communities. These activities give students the chance to explore real-world concepts while strengthening their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Both activities can be set up directly in your classroom and scheduled for back-to-back groups. Sessions are ideal at 45–50 minutes but can be adjusted to fit anywhere between 25–60 minutes.
- Grades 2–6: City Planning Model
Students take on the role of city planners, collaborating in small groups to design and build their own cities.
- Grades 4–8: Floodplain Model
Students explore how land use affects water flow by experimenting with a floodplain model and seeing firsthand the impact of planning decisions.
**MATC Activity - Grades 4-8: Bring the field trip experience right to your school! Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Mobile STEM Lab will roll up to your campus to deliver a hands-on automation demonstration for your students. You will need is a 15' x 25' off-street space—like a parking lot, playground or side lot—for the lab to park. Groups of 10–12 students can take part in an interactive, 10–25-minute learning adventure.
